Emmi acquires Roth Kase cheese

Milk and cheese processing giant Emmi, Lucerne, Switzerland, said it purchased Roth Kase USA Ltd., a Monroe, Wis., specialty cheese processor. Terms were not disclosed. Roth Kase has 125 employees with annual sales of about $90 million, primarily in the foodservice sector. Emmi said it has held a minority interest in Roth Kase since 2006 and it now hopes to increase sales of its imported Swiss cheese into the foodservice sector. Emmi said Roth Kase officials, including founder Fermo Jaeckle, will remain with the company.
