Eye on Operations: Wayne Farms, Unilever in the news

Eye on Operations: Local news media reported that the Coffee County (Ala.) Commission granted a 10-year tax abatement to chicken processor Wayne Farms LLC, Oakwood, Ga., which is planning a $6 million expansion to its Jack, Ala., operation. The operation expects to hire an additional 400 workers once the addition is completed. . . . Crain's Chicago Business reported that there may be a buyer for Unilever United States' Chicago-area soup plant in Franklin Park, Ill. Once associated with frozen soups, the 200,000-square-foot facility now produces Knorr brand dry soups and sauces. Unilever planned to close the facility this month.
