Barvecue, producers of wood-smoked, plant-based proteins, has opened the world's largest plant-based smokehouse. The 10,000 square foot production facility, called Carolina Smokehouse, opens for production with an initial capacity of making 800,000 pounds of Barvecue a year and expects to employ 15 team members as production ramps up.
Yasso, the frozen greek yogurt brand, has brought their bite-size, better-for-you snacks, Poppables, to more than 2,000 Walmart locations across the country.
California Dairies has broken ground on a 220,000-square-foot milk processing facility in Kern County, California, near Bakersfield. The plant will be built on 30 acres of land and feature ultra-high temperature (UHT) and extended shelf-life (ESL) milk processing. The facility is expected to create approximately 100 new jobs when fully operational in 2023.

West Coast Cold Storage, a Southern California based food-grade warehousing and 3PL services provider, is bringing much-needed freezer/cooler space to the region with its new 127,000 square foot cold storage facility, expected to open this fall. West Coast Cold Storage is partnering with ARCO National Construction on the project.
Mission Produce has opened a 262,000-square-foot avocado ripening and processing facility in Laredo, Texas, the largest in North America. The plant also includes cold storage and packaging space. The building is located in Laredo’s Pinnacle Industry Center on 32.6 acres adjacent to the Rio Grande River and the Mexican Border. The new facility will allow Mission to capitalize on the continued popularity of its signature product in the nation’s busiest land port.
