Land O’Frost, one of the nation’s best-selling brands of packaged meats, today announced the addition of Saverio Spontella to its senior leadership team as Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Innovation. In this role, Spontella will oversee the growth and profitability of all Land O’Frost, Wellshire and Gone Rogue brands.

Golden State Foods (GSF),  has appointed Justin Vannoy as GSF corporate vice president and president, Liquid Products North America (LPNA). Based in Conyers, Georgia, Vannoy will lead the planning and execution of a strategic business plan to satisfy GSF's financial and operational objectives, including customer growth, product quality, food safety, associate safety, and succession planning. His role will also focus on broadening the capabilities, technologies, and markets in which GSF supplies dressings, sauces, syrups, and toppings.

The U.S. Apple Association has named Michigan grower Chris Alpers of RedPath Orchards and Alpers Farms to lead its board of directors. He will serve the 2021-22 term. A third-generation grower, Alpers is the operations manager of RedPath Orchards and Alpers Farms and a partner in Alpers Tree Sales in Lake Leelanau, Michigan, where he grows apples, as well as sweet and tart cherries.

The Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA) and RLS Logistics are honored to announce MJ Faison of Interstate Warehousing and Christian Avila of Valley Cold Storage as the first recipients of the Anthony M. Leo WFLO Scholarship. Kenneth E. McMullen, CEO of Weigel’s passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021 unexpectedly. Under McMullen's leadership, Weigel’s added 49 convenience stores and its own bakery. His tenure and legacy at Weigel’s lasted 40 tremendous years and the chain now has 70 stores.

This esteemed recognition is awarded to less than one percent of ASAE’s membership, which includes 7,300 organizations and 42,000 individuals.
