AYO Foods, the first national West African frozen brand known for premium meals and hot sauces, announces its launch and sampling of its Frozen Chicken Yassa in 59 Costco locations across California and Hawaii.
Ayo translates to “joy” in Yoruba and the Ayo team is excited to bring the joy of Chef Adjepong’s flavors to Costco shoppers.
“Chef Adjepong’s Chicken Yassa is full of bold, rich flavors and has quickly become a favorite across the Ayo line. We are excited to bring this incredible meal to Costco shoppers in a new, craveable, four-pack format,” said AYO Co-Founder, Perteet Spencer.
Launched in July 2020, by married couple Perteet and Fred Spencer, AYO Foods was inspired by Perteet’s Liberian family and the couple’s desire to bring greater inclusivity to grocery store aisles. In just over two years, AYO Foods has become one of the fastest growing frozen brands and increased reach from 50 retail locations to more than 4,500 nationwide, while also launching a line of hot sauces. As part of an effort to extend access to the breadth of West African flavors, AYO partnered with Top Chef Alum Eric Adjepong and cookbook author Chef Zoe Adjonyoh and for a line of specialty dishes, including Chicken Yassa, Waakye (Beans and Rice), Groundnut Stew, and Aboboi.
AYO Foods nutrient-dense, flavor-rich frozen entrees and hot sauces are conveniently packaged and easy to prepare.
