TC Transcontinental Packaging, a leader in flexible packaging in North America showcases the expanded breadth of its sustainable flexible packaging at the 2024 Pack Expo International in Chicago, November 3-6, including its vieVERTe sustainable product portfolio, the new Slingshot Sustainable BOPE films, latest announcements related to Corporate Social Responsibility, and innovative new products. The manufacturer also announces the progress of their latest investment in technology and R&D for the core markets it serves, including dairy, pet food, coffee, beverage, meat and poultry, confectionery & snack foods, and home and personal care products. At the show, TC Transcontinental Packaging will highlight its Slingshot BOPE recyclable and high-performing flexible plastic packaging films. It will also report on the progress of its cutting- edge $60 million investment extrusion line, which will produce biaxially oriented polyethylene (BOPE), a first in North America.
“Our Slingshot films will be used to manufacture a wide array of recycle ready solutions for snack foods, frozen, confectionary, pet food and pet treats, dry foods, pantry items, and more,” said Thomas Morin, President and CEO of TC Transcontinental. “Our offering aligns with our customers’ desire to accelerate speed to market with recyclable packaging products while protecting and preserving our customers’ product throughout the life cycle,”
At Pack Expo, TC Transcontinental Packaging will be communicating the ISCC+ certification of three of its plants: Transcontinental Whitby (Ontario, Canada), Transcontinental Spartanburg, SC, and Transcontinental Tulsa, OK. These notable certifications are part of a growing list of our facilities that are soon to be certified. ISCC is a globally applicable sustainability certification system that covers all sustainable feedstocks, including agricultural and forestry biomass, biogenic wastes and residues, circular materials, and renewables. The third-party certification verifies mass balance chain of custody and traceability from raw materials to finished products.
TC Transcontinental Packaging will also be announcing an important milestone in its sustainability journey. The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has approved the company’s near-term science-based emissions reduction targets. The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a corporate climate action organization that enables companies and financial institutions worldwide to play their part in combating the climate crisis.
TC Transcontinental Packaging is committed to reducing absolute scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 42% by 2030 compared to fiscal year 2021 and absolute scope 3 GHG emissions by 25% by 2030 compared to fiscal year 2021.
