Privately owned FPL Food LLC will invest $4.29 million to reopen a food plant in West Columbia S.C., according to the South Carolina Commerce Department. This reopening of the former Carolina Culinary Foods plant by the August Ga.-based firm will create 100 jobs, the department said.
OSI Group of Aurora, Ill., which had been owner of the West Columbia facility, shut the a 75,000-square-foot plant in December 2008. In 2000, the site had more than 150 employees, a number that shrank to about 75 before the plant was closed.
