United States Cold Storage, Voorhees, N.J., said it hired cold storage industry veteran Sam Spicher as vice president of sales, Northwest. Working from an office in Beaverton, Ore., Spicher will help Northwest food processors tap into the company's 33-site national network. Added Dave Harlan, USCS President & CEO, "Sam also will be instrumental in the establishment of a greater presence by USCS ... as the company carries out plans to develop major storage and distribution facilities in the Northwest region. We are excited about the opportunity to expand our operations into Oregon and Washington." . . . The Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA), Alexandria, Va., said it is partnering with the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), Atlanta, to promote mutual interests.
Collaborative efforts may include a refrigerated warehouse guide, an updated refrigerated warehouse chapter and other guidance in ASHRAE's handbook and co-sponsored refrigeration research. GCCA represents the International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses, the World Food Logistics Organization, the International Refrigerated Transportation Association and the International Association for Cold Storage Construction. . . Datalogic Mobile Americas, a Eugene, Ore., supplier of rugged mobile computing devices, said it appointed Gary Glaser as vice president of sales and marketing.
