Completed last summer, a $46 million central commissary in Claysburg, Pa., is now servicing the more than 350 convenience stores belonging toSheetz Inc., Altoona, Pa.
Shortly after constructing the 140,000-square-foot Sheetz Bros. Kitchen facility, officials said they expected within five months (by January 1, 2009) to service all 353 Sheetz convenience store locations from the Claysburg plant. Louie Sheetz, vice president of marketing, toldConvenience Store Newsthat Sheetz now has reached its goal involving chainwide deliveries.
Sheetz Bros. Kitchen processes refrigerated sandwiches, salads and yogurt parfaits. The operation also features a fresh bakery, which produces donuts, cookies, muffins, cinnamon rolls, biscuits, sub, hamburger and hot dog rolls. All items are made and shipped fresh daily.
