Wayne Farms LLC, Oakwood, Ga., said it expects by the end of July to phase out further-processed poultry operations at its Douglas, Ga., site. Officials said the move was necessary due the completion of "highly specialized customer contract" and for reasons of operational efficiency. President & CEO Elton Maddox said Wayne Farms is in discussions to sell the plant to one of several interested parties. The operation employs about 150 workers.
