TheTippmann Group, Fort Wayne, Ind., said itsInterstate Warehousingpublic refrigerated warehouse business broke ground for a 135,000-square-foot expansion at its Franklin, Ind., facility, near Indianapolis. "This is an exciting time for Interstate Warehousing," said Chuck Tippmann, president of Tippmann Group / Interstate Warehousing. "The expansion will allow us to better serve our customers who utilize the Indianapolis market as a cold storage and distribution location for their business." Officials say they expect to complete the addition by September. It will bring the total operation to 425,000 square feet.
Weber Distribution, Santa Fe Springs, Calif., said it opened a multi-temp distribution center in Stockton, Calif., as a "key hub location" providing LTL, truckload, storage and value-added services for all of Northern California and Nevada ranging from Fresno to Redding and San Francisco to Reno. Officials said Stockton is divided into temperature-controlled and dry storage. In conjunction, Weber closed its facility in Lodi, Calif., and has moved its customers to Stockton to service the growing region.
In other news, Weber said it hiredMarc Levinas senior vice president, client solutions. Levin previously was vice president of global business development for Ryder Integrated Logistics, Supply Chain Services.
