Retail frozen cheesecake supplier The Father's Table, expects this summer to move into a 100,000-square-foot addition at its Sanford, Fla., bakery, according to media reports. While the original 80,000-square-foot plant produces cheesecake, the new facility will produce cream cheese-filled cakes.
Foodservice meats processor AnyTime Foods, Omaha, Neb., plans this fall to expand its Harlan, Iowa, bacon processing plant, according to Industrial Info Resources, Sugar Land, Texas.
Low margins and tight hog supplies led Tyson Foods Inc. and Smithfield Foods Inc. to idle three of the nation's largest pork processing plants for today, July 13, according to Reuters and livestock industry media. The operations involved are Tyson's Columbus Junction, Iowa, plant and Smithfield's Sioux City, Iowa, and Sioux Falls, N.D., plants.
