Powerit Solutions, Seattle, said it received a Connectivity Week Buildy Award May 26 for its work withFour Star Fruit of Delano, Calif. The award was in the "Smart Industrial" category, which recognizes the application of innovative ideas and technologies to device and system connectivity in the industrial automation and manufacturing field, particularly for energy management, sustainable manufacturing, and industrial-to-grid applications. Officials said this is Powerit's second Buildy Award.
Officials said the Four Start Fruit project integrated automated demand response (Auto-DR) technology and energy efficiency (EE), and it is among the first projects jointly financed by Southern California Edison’s EE and Auto-DR incentive programs. Using Powerit’s Spara product, Four Star Fruit, a table grape producer, reduced its electric bill 16 percent annually and achieved ROI in less than two months.
Rich CharlestonjoinedTriangle Package Machinery Company, Chicago, as the company's PMMI certified trainer and field service technician, the company said.
Triangle said Charleston joined the company this spring and has more than 12 years of experience in technical and field service support, customer FATs, and machine building. Although he will be based in Raleigh, N.C., Charleston will offer top level training and service to Triangle customers nationwide, said officials. Triangle manufactures vertical form fill seal (VFFS) bag machines, combination weighers and bag-in-box systems.
