The Fort Wayne (Ind.)News-Sentinel reported that duck processorMaple Leaf Farms, Milford, Ind., expects by October to relocate its corporate headquarters to a renovated former elementary school in Leesburg, Ind. Weigand Construction Co., Fort Wayne, said it will upgrade the 37,600-square-foot building for administrative and corporate office space, a company store, a demonstration kitchen, conference and training spaces and a fitness room.
Bell Aquaculture, Redkey, Ind., said it broke ground on a $5 million expansion to its production facility in Albany, Inc., which officials describe as "the nation's largest yellow perch (Perca flavenscens) fish farm."
Bell President Norman McCowan said customer demand led to the project, which should boost processing capacity by 3 million more fish per year.
