McCain Foods USA, Lisle, Ill., will begin a major capital improvement and renovation project for its Burley, Idaho, potato plant. The project is slated to begin this fall and will be completed over the next two years.
The renovation of Burley 2 will position the facility for further growth, improve quality and reaffirm the company’s commitment to Burley and the surrounding area.
“Although the renovation won’t increase the plant’s capacity or employment, it will position us for greater competitiveness by adding state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment and updated infrastructure,” says Jeff McCray, plant manager. “This will also further reduce our energy and water consumption, allowing us to retain our DOE Energy Star rating.”
Burley 2, which was built in 1964, produces a variety of straight cut, crinkle cut, coated and non-parfry potato products that are distributed across North America and are exported to Asia.
McCain Foods is the recipient of Refrigerated & Frozen Foods’ 2012 Frozen Foods Processor of the Year award.
