J. Tim Evans, the last living original company founder of Bob Evans Farms, Inc., Columbus, Ohio, passed away Oct. 11 in Gallipolis, Ohio.
In 1953, Evans was already in the meat business working at his father's business, Evans Packing Co., when his first cousin Bob approached him about forming a company to produce and sell his trademark sausage. Together, with their uncle Emerson and three friends, they launched Bob Evans Farms. The company flourished and eventually added a restaurant division. Tim Evans remained a company board member for many years.
"We were saddened to learn of the passing of company founder, Tim Evans," says Steve Davis, chairman and CEO. "Tim was one of the visionaries who helped shape the company and guide it in its early years, which would ultimately help us become the $1.7 billion, multi-brand corporation we are today."
