NewAge Industries, Southampton, Pa., announced that its signature product, Nylobrade braid-reinforced PVC hose, is manufactured from a PVC compound that’s free of DEHP and other plasticizers. The compound also meets California Proposition 65 and helps customers meet regulations involving DEHP and other known cancer-causing chemicals.
DEHP—Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate—is a plasticizer, a chemical agent added to resin to increase its workability during processing and to impart flexibility in the finished product. DEHP and other plasticizers such as BBP, DBP, DnHP and DIDP are included on lists of carcinogens from both the federal government and the state of California. Their use in food processing equipment and medical devices has caused great concern, and products containing these chemicals over a certain concentration must display a warning label. Nylobrade requires no such label.
In addition, Nylobrade is certified by the National Sanitation Foundation for use with food equipment materials (NSF-51) and potable water (NSF-61). The hose’s ingredients are non-toxic and conform to FDA and USP Class VI standards. Nylobrade offers a mirror-smooth interior surface, permitting outstanding flow and higher pressure capabilities than unreinforced PVC tubing. The hose provides corrosion, abrasion and chemical resistance, along with flexibility and a longer life than similar hoses made from rubber.
Nylobrade comes in 12 sizes ranging from 1/8-2 inches in thin, standard wall or high-pressure versions.
