St. Louis-based Anchor Packaging, Inc. acquired a 423,000-square-foot manufacturing and warehousing facility in Jonesboro, Ark., from Quad Graphics. This latest acquisition brings the number of Anchor facilities to eight, with a combined total of more than 2 million square feet of manufacturing and warehousing space.
“This acquisition provides the space necessary to support our continued growth for the next several years,” says Robert Hermann Jr., chairman and CEO of Hermann Cos., Anchor’s parent company. “With this additional facility, Anchor has created ‘Centers of Excellence’ across our six manufacturing plants, with specializations in thermoforming, injection molding, multi-layer film extrusion, blown film, printing and trim-in-place technologies.”
In addition to the most recent purchase, Anchor acquired the equipment assets of MVP plastics and obtained a manufacturing facility in Kentucky within the past 10 months. With the addition of the Jonesboro facility, Anchor will now have six separate manufacturing locations with thermoforming capabilities, providing logistical efficiency for Anchor’s customers, as well as insurance against supply chain interruption in case of a natural disaster.
