In response to industry growth and volume needs, Dot Foods broke ground on what is now the seventh expansion of its warehouse at its Mt. Sterling, Ill., corporate headquarters. The addition includes an 110,000-square-foot cooler warehouse, with an anticipated completion date of April 1, 2014.
When completed, the warehouse will provide Dot with increased dry and cooler warehouse capacity and add around 50 new jobs in the local Mt. Sterling, Ill., community.
“This expansion brings a number of great advantages,” says Jim Tracy, senior vice president. “First, it frees up a great deal of space in our dry and cooler warehouses to allow us to continue to grow and hire. It will also provide a brand new, employee-friendly break room for our frozen and cooler employees.”
The Stellar Group, Inc., Jacksonville, Fla., managed the construction project, which included a lounge break room featuring games for employee break times, as well as a locker room and offices. The new cooler is located on the north side of Dot’s frozen warehouse, which completed its own 148,000-square-foot expansion in August 2012.
