McCain Foods USA, Lisle, Ill., announced plans to expand its Burley, Idaho, manufacturing plant with the addition of a third production line.
“There is an increasing demand for potato products from customers nationwide and around the world,” says Frank van Schaayk, regional president, the Americas. “We made the decision to invest in our Burley plant because of its strong potato grower community, highly capable workforce and tremendous support from the local and state government.”
McCain Foods is investing more than $100 million to expand the capacity at Burley. The additional third line will be operational by the end of 2015, and will make potato products for the foodservice industry and restaurant chains.
“Our plant employees are dedicated and proud to be part of a growing workforce,” says Jeff McCray, plant manager. “In addition to hiring more employees, we plan to buy potatoes locally for the new third production line, which means more business for our local community.”
Permits for construction will begin immediately. The Burley plant will continue production during the expansion.
