Campanelli Construction, Braintree, Mass., completed the construction of a 175,000-square-foot cold storage warehouse for Seafrigo USA Cold Storage in Elizabeth, N.J. The project, which began in August 2012, was completed nine weeks ahead of schedule. Located at 735 Dowd Avenue directly off U.S. Interstate 95 and only minutes from the Newark Airport, the building was constructed on a historic fill site, previously the location of a 160,000-square-foot FedEx facility.

Seafrigo is a French-based logistics company that specializes in international freight forwarding and warehousing fresh and exported goods. The company’s new flex building holds 15,000 pallets and includes 130,000 square feet of cold storage space (45,000 square feet freezer space and 85,000 square feet of humidity-controlled cooler space), 30,000 square feet of dock space and 16,000 square feet of office space. There are 25 overhead door locations and a 1.5 megawatt backup generator to power the entire facility in case of a sustained power loss.
