John Allan III was tapped for vice president of regulatory affairs and international standards, responsible for directing all aspects of IDFA's food safety training programs and leading efforts related to product safety and quality control issues. He also will engage on behalf of IDFA members with the International Dairy Federation, 3-A Sanitary Standards and the National Conference on Interstate Milk Shipments. Allan will have additional responsibilities in federal and state regulatory affairs. Before joining IDFA, Allan was the director of regulatory and international affairs for the National Yogurt Association, the American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI) and AFFI’s affiliated associations—the National Frozen Pizza Institute, Frozen Potato Products Institute and the Frozen Food Foundation. He served as a regulatory and scientific expert, providing issues analysis and strategic advice to support the associations’ objectives.

Don Stalcup was named new division manager, bringing 46 years of retail produce experience. Previously, Stalcup was head of produce and corporate trainer for Albertsons for 25 years. Meanwhile, Ray Iwamoto joined as the berry category manager, responsible for managing inventories, maintaining relationships with growers and ensuring that needs across all customer channels are met. Iwamoto maintains 23 years of retail experience, having served as supply side manager for the Giumarra International Berry Division.
Weis Markets, Inc., Sunbury, Pa.
Jonathan Weis, vice chairman, was named interim CEO, replacing David Hepfinger, who announced his retirement as president and CEO. Robert Weis will remain as chairman. Hepfinger also resigned from the company's board of directors. As part of the reorganization, Kurt Schertle, executive vice president, sales and merchandising will also oversee the real estate, store development, finance and human resources teams.
Hormel Foods Corp., Austin, Minn.
Dr. Phillip Minerich, vice president of research and development, announced his retirement, effective Dec. 31. As a result, Dr. Kevin Myers, director of product and process development, research and development, will be promoted to vice president of research and development, effective Oct. 28. Minerich began his career with Hormel Foods as a quality control trainee at the Austin, Minn., plant in 1976. Myers came to Hormel Foods with 11 years of experience in the food industry, holding management positions in food technology, research science and new product development.
Schwan Food Co., Marshall, Minn.
Greg Flack will step down as chief executive officer, president and chief operating officer, effective Oct. 4. Flack has served as president and CEO for the past five years, and is a member of the board of directors.

Arby's Restaurant Group, Inc., Atlanta
Rob Lynch will join as brand president and CMO, responsible for leading all research and development, product innovation, brand marketing and positioning, advertising and media for the Arby's brand. He will also focus on building collaborative relationships with franchisees, team members and other key stakeholders to continue the revitalization of the Arby's brand and deliver top and bottom line growth. Lynch comes to Arby's with a long track record of building brands and delivering business results at companies like Procter & Gamble, The HJ Heinz Co. and most recently at Yum! Brands, where he served as the vice president of brand marketing at Taco Bell.

Marta Stewart was named executive vice president and CFO, succeeding John Rathbone, who will retire Nov.1 after a 32-year career in the finance and administrative divisions. Stewart joined Norfolk Southern in 1983 and served in several finance positions before being named vice president and controller in 2003 and then vice president and treasurer in 2009.

Lisa Bucki was tapped as marketing director, responsible for leading the execution of key print and electronic marketing initiatives, including catalog and web development, e-blast campaigns, product launches and various other programs to enhance the brand. Bucki previously worked for eight years at Magid Glove & Safety in various roles, most recently as their marketing communications manager.

Bob West has appointed director of business development, food and beverage, responsible for expanding Ryan’s presence in the food and beverage industry and developing long-lasting relationships with prospective clients, key vendors and industry organizations. West brings more than 23 years of business development and construction management experience, and has contributed to projects totaling more than 5 million square feet.

Clyde H. “Jake” Allison Jr. was promoted to vice president audit and compliance. Allison joined the company in 1993 as manager internal audit and subsequently served as assistant vice president strategic sourcing, assistant vice president accounting operations and assistant vice president corporate accounting. In 2009, he was named vice president and controller. Fredric Ehlers will become vice president information technology. Ehlers joined Norfolk Southern in 1985 as a management trainee. He served in a number of transportation positions before being named assistant vice president executive in 2004 and vice president customer service in 2007. Jerry Hall will become vice president network and service management. Thomas Hurlbut will become vice president and controller. Hurlbut joined Norfolk Southern in 1992, and was named assistant vice president internal audit in 2008 and vice president audit and compliance in 2010. Denise Hutson will become corporate secretary, succeeding Howard McFadden, who is joining the company’s real estate department as a general attorney. Hutson began her career with Norfolk Southern in 1994, and since 2000, has served in the corporate secretary’s department, most recently as assistant corporate secretary. Alan Shaw will become vice president intermodal operations. Shaw joined the company in 1994, and has held positions in the finance and marketing departments. He was named group vice president coal marketing in 2008 and group vice president chemicals in 2009. Thomas Werner will become vice president and treasurer. Werner joined Norfolk Southern in 1999, and has held positions in the information technology department.
