Mullica Hill Cold Storage, Mullica Hill, N.J., broke ground on a facility expansion at its Pedricktown, N.J., warehouse. In addition to offering 14,000 more pallet positions (boosting the company’s total pallet positions to 68,000 upon completion), the 130,000-square-foot addition will offer USDA meat import inspection services and will be FDA approved and U.S. Customs bonded. Mullica Hill selected Primus Builders, Inc., Woodstock, Ga., to design and build the project.
In addition to providing both frozen and cold storage services, the facility will offer 105-foot-deep refrigerated loading docks with 15 loading doors, meat tempering services and USDA-approved re-pack and re-box capabilities. It will also feature a high-efficiency refrigeration system and LED lights. The project is expected to be completed in July 2014.
“Since the beginning, the Sorbello family has put the needs of its customers at the center of its business model,” says Fred Sorbello, president of Mullica Hill Cold Storage. “As a result, Mullica Hill has pioneered many areas of refrigeration logistics, including quality control, energy efficiency and state-of-the-art information systems. This project reflects those values.”
