Ginsberg’s Foods, Inc., a foodservice distributor based in Hudson, N.Y., announced plans to expand its Columbia County, Wash., operation. Ginsberg’s Foods will invest $11.3 million to construct a 65,000-square-foot refrigerated warehouse, allowing the company to expand their selections of frozen products and product lines, creating 51 new jobs and retaining 233 existing ones.
“Columbia County has been home to our business for more than a century,” says David Ginsberg, chief executive officer. “So, when the time came to expand, we wanted to stay right here. Not only has this been a good base of operations for us, but the majority of our employees are local residents. Thanks to the support of the county and the state, we can take this opportunity to move forward while still retaining the best of our current situation. It’s a win-win for everyone.”
To assist with this job creation project, Empire State Development is providing Ginsberg’s Foods with nearly $1 million in performance-based Excelsior Jobs program tax credits. In addition, New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR) is providing $516,000 in New York State Community Development Block Grant funds that will be used to offset the costs of fixtures and equipment.
