Genesee & Wyoming Inc., Jacksonville, Fla., announced that its Atlas Railroad Construction subsidiary is reorganizing under a region-based commercial and operating structure to facilitate expansion into the U.S. Midwest, Southeast and Southwest. As part of the reorganization, Atlas is relocating its headquarters from Bridgeville, Pa., to Jacksonville, Fla.
“Moving to a region-based structure is key to our growth plans,” says Gary Long, president of Atlas. “While we will continue to maintain a strong presence in the Pittsburgh area, with our customers in the Northeast receiving the same high level of service, the move to Jacksonville provides access to a larger transportation and infrastructure workforce.”
The reorganization also provides additional opportunities to leverage Atlas’ construction capabilities with G&W’s national footprint and industrial development efforts. New offerings include turn-key solutions for customers seeking to locate new rail-served industrial facilities or expand existing operations, with Atlas constructing the track and other G&W subsidiaries providing railcar switching and terminal services.
“The reorganization and relocation positions Atlas both to work more closely with G&W and to grow our business in new geographies,” Long says.
