al fresco all natural, Chelsea, Mass., introduced two new gourmet, all-natural, fully cooked product lines in the freezer case—Chicken Meatballs and Breakfast Chicken Sausages.
Both products are said to boast 40% less sodium and 60% less fat than traditional pork and beef alternatives. Made from lean, skinless chicken meat, these frozen meatballs and sausages go directly from freezer to stovetop or oven with no need to marinate or defrost.
"We know that preparing healthy and delicious meals can be a time-consuming task," says Sarah Crowley, director of marketing at Kayem Foods, owner of the al fresco all natural brand. "These new frozen products feature the high-quality, all-natural ingredients that people have come to expect from al fresco, helping to make healthy cooking more convenient than ever before. Based on the success of our frozen Gourmet Chicken Grillers launch earlier this year, we know that more consumers are looking for these better-for-you options in the freezer aisle."
The breakfast chicken sausages come in Country Style (with a hint of sage and thyme) and Apple Maple (with pure Vermont maple syrup), while the chicken meatballs are available in Italian Style (with fresh basil and mozzarella), Caramelized Onion (with roasted garlic) and Spicy Jalapeno & Pepper Jack (with roasted peppers and Monterey Jack cheese).
They can be found in the freezercase at major grocery stores nationwide, including Kroger, Safeway, Stop & Shop, Harris Teeter, Jewel and Hannaford, among others. Each package of the breakfast chicken sausages contains eight ready-to-cook links for a suggested retail price of $3.99, and the new chicken meatballs contain 24 meatballs per 18-ounce package for a suggested retail price of $7.99.
