TOMRA Sorting Solutions, Austria, opened the doors to its 12,600-square-meter, BREEAM-certified, build-to-suit facility in Slovakia.
Designed and built by Prologis, Inc., San Francisco, Prologis Park Bratislava is a state-of-the-art distribution center that comprises 10 buildings totaling 234,000 square meters, and is ideally suited for domestic and international logistics operations. The new Class-A building will house more than 200 employees and function as a distribution center for the food sorting businesses that supply to Europe, The Americas, Africa and Asia.
“This facility will become the main production center for TOMRA Sorting Solutions,” says Ben Bannatyne, managing director, Prologis Central and Eastern Europe. “In addition to its modern technology and flexible design tailored to TOMRA’s specific needs, it meets strict environmental standards and thus reflects our client’s philosophy and values.”
“We are very proud of our new facility, which is equipped with the most modern technology and incorporates sustainable solutions such as LED lighting, which is in line with our company’s mission to lead the resource revolution,” says Martin Hypký, local manager and operations director of food for TOMRA Sorting Solutions. “The $12.8 million investment not only provides us with a state-of-the-art production and distribution facility, [but] it also provides much-improved work areas for our people, as TOMRA recognizes its continued successes is down to the hard work and commitment from its employees.”
