The Cher-Make Sausage Co., Manitowoc, Wis., added two new products to its 100-calorie Chicken Sausage line—Mild Italian Chicken Sausage and Pepper Jack Chicken Bratwurst.
The bratwurst products feature traditional brat flavor and texture and are made from all-natural chicken, while the Mild Italian Chicken Sausage is seasoned with fennel, garlic and red bell peppers.
“Since 1928 we’ve made authentic flavor our No. 1 priority. We’ve waited to offer this new lineup until the ‘sausage experience’ was up to our company standards. These new products have been very well received, and are a great way for the calorie counters to enjoy a great taste of Wisconsin,” says Tom Chermak, president. “Today’s consumer is looking for healthier choices, so in addition to the 100-calorie per link sausage additions, we’ve formulated them to be gluten-free and contain no MSG or added nitrites.”
