The Alabama Department of Public said Blue Bell Creameries can resume production and sale of its ice cream manufactured at its Sylacauga, AL plant. Ron Dawsey, director of the department’s Division of Food, Milk and Lodging, told the Associated Press Wednesday the plant met all state public health standards during a recent inspection.
Blue Bell halted all production at its three manufacturing facilities and recalled all company products in April after its ice cream was linked to an outbreak of Listeriosis. Last month the company notified FDS and state health officials in Alabama that it would begin test production at the Alabama facility. The company says it has no firm date for when its products will return to store shelves.
