Weber Packaging Solutions, Arlington Heights, Ill., introduced the new liner-free label printer-applicator that can print and apply linerless labels.

The Weber Model 5500LF liner-free label printer applicator is powered by NuLabel’s breakthrough adhesive activation technology. The specially coated dry adhesive label material is activated just before the label is applied to the product.

The water-based solution contains no solids and evaporates almost immediately, eliminating glue buildup. Using existing tamp-blow application, the label is dispensed, cut to size and then activated using NuLabel’s proprietary fluid.

The Model 5500LF uses 13.75-inch O.D. rolls of label material, thus reducing roll changeovers by 50%. Without the need of a traditional pressure-sensitive liner, the pre-coated roll can also hold twice the amount of labels.

The Model 5500LF operates 24/7, features the Zebra ZE-500 print engine that can operate in thermal-transfer or direct thermal mode and features browser-based monitoring, numerous I/O’s for connection-to-external devices, one-to-one media consumption (for thermal-transfer mode) and durable construction to withstand harsh industrial environments.
