BD&K Foods, Columbus, Ga., acquired a new 75,000-square-foot facility at 1333 Cusseta Road in Columbus, Ga. As a result, the vegetable processor plans to hire 35 additional team members.
The expansion will allow the company to roll out its new Fixin’s line of hot, packaged side dishes slated to be sold in grocery store delis alongside rotisserie chickens and other ready-to-eat protein items. The new space will be a compliment to BD&K’s existing 30,000-square-foot facility on Andrews Road that has grown to employ 75 production and administrative associates since 2009.
"We have been very pleased with the quality of the workforce here in Columbus as well as the site selection support we received from the Columbus Chamber of Commerce," says Kevin Jordan, chief executive officer. "This new building will allow us to bring in house our freezing, storage and distribution functions. It also allows us to expand our production capacities in the future."
