The Refrigerated Foods Association (RFA), Marietta, Ga., presents its 36th Annual Conference & Tabletop Display, scheduled to take place March 6-9 at The Vinoy Renaissance Resort in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Titled “Navigating the Unchartered Waters of FSMA,” this year’s conference will kick off with keynote speaker Ed Viesturs, the first American to ascend all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks. Viesturs will share some of his insights into managing and mitigating risk through perseverance, dedication and teamwork.
Scott Sadler, entrepreneur, facilitator, speaker, consultant, certified executive coach and owner of Creative Conflict Solutions, will later share insights on “Engaging and Developing Millennial Leaders,” helping attendees understand what core values and trends drive behavior change.
Yvette d’Entremont from SciBabe will discuss the effects of social media on the food industry, highlighting the power of social media and providing insights and tips for using it to the full advantage.
RFA technical director Martin Mitchell returns with his “Technical Update,” focusing on the Food Safety Modernization Act and how the updates and regulations impact the refrigerated foods industry.
The technical luncheon will feature Ben Howard, laboratory manager for Certified Laboratories, who will discuss the ins and outs of DNA fingerprinting in the food industry.
Meanwhile, Rebecca Catlett, sales and marketing manager for Advantage Solutions, will talk about trends within the refrigerated foods industry, how to determine if a trend is a fad and why following today’s trends help prepare businesses for tomorrow.
The Pasta 101 panel, comprised of representatives from Dakota Growers Pasta Co., Pasta Montana, Philadelphia Macaroni and Zerega Pasta, and coordinated by members of the National Pasta Association, Washington, D.C., will provide an in-depth look at pasta, including the history of U.S. production and how the industry has evolved over the years.
Another highlight of the 2016 conference is the tabletop display, with key suppliers showcasing the latest offerings in ingredients, equipment, packaging and services for the refrigerated foods industry. New this year is “Sizzle Tape,” where associate members feature slides from participating companies highlighting new products and offerings.
The conference will also include the popular one-on-one CEO sessions, which allow key decision makers of RFA manufacturer and associate members to meet face-to-face and discuss potential business opportunities.
Ample social events will also take place, such as the annual golf tournament and closing dinner and entertainment aboard yacht Starship.
