Colorado Premium Foods, Greeley, Colo., launched a new line of aged, perfectly-portioned steaks and beef tips, thanks in part to a marriage between the company’s Truly Simple brand partnered and the Certified Angus Beef brand.
“Consumers are asking for ease and simplicity in lean meats and the Truly Simple brand delivers,” says Kevin LaFleur, president of Colorado Premium Foods. “We start with top quality aged steaks cut to 1.5- inch thickness. With our simple instructions for cooking the perfect steak and recipes on the package, consumers can count on these products to give them exactly what they’ve been seeking in the meat case.”
The company’s butchers expertly portion, trim and age the Truly Simple products for richer flavor in each 4-ounce serving. Center-cut ribeye, striploin and sirloin steaks are cut 1.5 inches thick and merchandised two steaks per package. Rib cap filet, flat iron filet and aged beef tips offer two servings per 8-ounce package.
At store level, retailers can age the beef 21 days in the case in the same package. Consumers can freeze the items in the package, or serve as an entrée in 8 minutes. Vacuum-sealed packaging makes for easy cleanup. Plus, nutrition-forward messaging on the label clearly communicates beef’s beneficial protein and overall nutrient content per 200-calorie portion.
“Consumer demand for great-tasting beef continues to rise,” says Tracey Erickson, vice president of marketing for the Certified Angus Beef brand. “With these products, customers can enjoy the beef’s complete package of great taste, nutrition and convenience in a satisfying portion size.”
