NEW BRANDING, NEW CLASS-3 PALLET JACK
Plug Power Inc., Latham, N.Y., debuted its new ³Infinite Drive² branding, which includes a new logo, color scheme, website and the rebranding of its GenSure stationary fuel cell products (formerly ReliOn), all to communicate its leadership, ingenuity and innovative spirit. The rebranding effort was initiated to better align Plug Power with its leadership status providing hydrogen and fuel cell solutions to the material handling industry.
Plug Power also debuted a new class-3 pallet jack GenDrive 3340 fuel cell, which is built to even further increase performance of the fuel cell system. The GenDrive fuel cell system couples enhancements learned from over 100 million hours off-field runtime with PlugPower’s proprietary proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell stack technology. GenDrive 3340 features a new advanced control system, improved system fuel efficiency and real-time communication capability when paired with PlugPower’s intelligent GenFuel hydrogen infrastructure products. Plus, it allows remote access to real-time performance data and diagnostics, resulting in improved fleet performance. The GenDrive 3340 fuel cell holds enough fuel to sustain a pallet jack for an entire 8-hour shift. Fueled in approximately 90 seconds, GenDrive reduces vehicle and personnel downtime. Power remains consistent during the shift and throughout the life of the product. And, the GenDrive3340 boasts a wide operating temperature range and is designed for use in freezer applications as low as -30°C.

WEB-BASED USER INTERFACE
Numina Group, Woodridge, Ill., released its latest web-based user interface for RDS, a top tier WES-WCS software platform. The web2 dashboard user interface is what software developers call a "rich web experience," allowing web-based applications to have the responsiveness of desktop applications, with the added capability of being able to operate on virtually any device. Web2 screens contain live data, and reconfigure individual parts of the page. The current RDS Java-based web screens co-exist with Web2, so current customers can continue to use their existing PC web screen interfaces and add enhanced web2 functionality to existing RDS applications. The open source tools allow for inclusion of hundreds of readily available viewing tool widgets such as bar charts, gauges and other tools to enhance and simplify the operator and management visibility experience.
Numina also extended the Node.js environment to allow direct and immediate access to the underlying RDS real-time control environment, essentially a web browser interface with proper authentication that can access the real-time control engine to read and write variables, force I/O and set control parameters for distribution center-wide monitoring and tracking operation productivity, order status, barcode scan rate statistics, print and apply labeling systems and conveyor and sorting applications.
Numina also released the IFM 3-D smart sensor camera, designed to provide automated conveyor systems the ability to in-motion examine the internal content of a carton prior to the pack, void and seal process. The 3-D smart sensor imaging technology adds carton depth perception to the V-PAS system. How it works is, 3-D sensing looks inside the carton and inspects the internal carton contents to determine the actual fill rate occurring during the picking process. The system performs an audit of the open cartons for pick-and-pack inspection and void detection measurement. For example, if the distribution center set the desired carton pack rate to 90%, the sensor compares the actual carton fill rate to the set pick-pack efficiency goal to provide a method of verifying that the right size carton is used for each shipment. V-PAS diverts errors over or under optimal packing to the inspection re-pack lane.
Numina’s vision-inspect module is an optional inline case inspection software module that can be used for full case shipment inspection, pick verification and ship validation. It operates in 180-cases-per-minute conveyor and sorting applications and includes up to four high-resolution digital cameras to perform the case image capture and inspection. The software module operates in real-time and prevents case picking errors to ensure 99.98% picking and shipping accuracy.

PALLET LIFT TRUCKS, ELECTRIC COUNTERBALANCED FORKLIFT
KION North America Corp., Summerville, S.C., released three new Baoli brand products—the EP15 "Citymover" and EP20 pallet lift trucks and the KBET18 three-wheel electric counterbalanced forklift—co-manufactured by Japan-based KION Baoli Forklift Co. Ltd.
The Baoli EP15 is a 3,000-pound capacity pallet lift truck powered by a 24-volt battery. The DC drive motor allows for continuous and smooth operation under a single charge. With the ability to easily navigate in confined spaces, the EP15 is perfect for daily light-duty jobs, and offers variable speed control and an impact-activated, auto-reversing switch.
Equipped with an AC drive motor, theBaoli EP20 model offers a more substantial load capacity of up to 4,000 pounds. It delivers the power and performance needed for a warehouse truck. With variable speed control allowing for precise maneuverability in narrow aisles or confined spaces, the EP20 can easily complete the most demanding tasks.
A 48-volt counterbalanced forklift, theBaoli KBET18 is the brand's first electric forklift to be introduced in North America. The AC dual-drive motors with SME controllers provide excellent power and increased productivity. And, its energy-efficient design allows for continuous operation during day-to-day jobs. Like the other Baoli products, its compact design allows for ease of maneuverability in narrow aisles.
KION North America also released two new Linde forklift series—the Series 1169 electric walkie stacker and the Series 1276 80-volt electric truck.
The Linde Series 1169 is a 24-volt truck that features a Linde controller, sealed AC motor, sealed connectors, stability caster and residual capacity. Plus, this straddle truck uses a GMA 48-inch long by 40-inch wide pallet, and can fit in a variety of material handling applications.
The Linde Series 1276 is the latest addition to the company's electric counterbalance lineup, and includes twin drive motors, a combi axle and an 80-volt AC electrical system. The twin motor drive system, combined with patented "combi axle," provides unparalleled maneuverability. Additionally, the truck features traction control to deliver motion, even with one wheel completely slipping. The operator assist feature is designed to aid the operator when maneuvering around curves.
