API Group, Canada, acquired the Osgood, Ind., paperboard lamination facilities and business from Hazen Paper Co., a paper converter based in Holyoke, Mass. Following the divestment of the Osgood plant, Hazen Paper will concentrate on its core business of custom holography and specialist paper converting in its Massachusetts facilities.
“The acquisition is part of our strategy to focus on brand enhancement solutions for the packaging market, and it enables us to provide a combined foils and laminate offering to our global customers,” says Dino Kiriakopoulos, chief executive officer of the API Group. “The addition of an established U.S. lamination business with a pedigree in key sectors is very welcome. We have a strong track record of innovation, technical excellence and continuous improvement, and we look forward to realizing the synergies this acquisition presents. Hazen will continue to supply the API Osgood site with its high-quality silver and holographic lamination films. The business includes commercial and production assets of the Osgood-based lamination facility, along with employees who will transfer to API immediately.”
"From our dealings with API, we know they will be a good custodian of our Osgood and folding carton and box wrap business, as they understand the industry and are focused on meeting customer needs,” adds John Hazen, president of Hazen Paper. “We will work closely with API to ensure continuity for our customers throughout the transition, and look forward to working in partnership with them on future projects.”
