New York-based Blue Harvest Fisheries, LLC acquired High Liner Foods’ scallop business and processing facility in New Bedford, Mass.
The acquisition of High Liner Foods’ scallop business further strengthens Blue Harvest’s existing processing and distribution capabilities. Blue Harvest entered the scallop processing and distribution business in August via the acquisition of Hygrade Ocean Products, Inc.
“High Liner Foods’ expertise and distribution capabilities in the frozen scallop market are highly complementary to our existing capabilities in the fresh scallop market,” says Jeff Davis, chief executive officer of Blue Harvest Fisheries. “Through this acquisition, we will grow our customer base, increase our portfolio of quality-assured products and build increased presence in the premium seafood marketplace.”
