The packaging systems division of SSI Schaefer Systems International, Charlotte, N.C., expanded production capabilities with a new manufacturing facility in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, to service existing and new clients located within Mexico. The new 8,500-square-meter facility opened March 1.

“We’re committed to being a long-term partner for our clients located within the region,” says Dave McCulloch, chief executive officer. “Schaefer innovates products for green logistics. It’s only fitting that we also practice sustainability too. The new facility drastically shortens delivery time while reducing logistical delivery costs for our clients located in and around Mexico. We chose San Luis Potosi for its excellent logistical location for both highway and rail transportation and its proximity to sea container port access.”

The San Luis Potosi facility will generate approximately 50 jobs over the next several years.
