A M King, Charlotte, N.C., will begin construction on a new cold storage distribution center for avocado producer Henry Avocado Corp., Escondido, Calif. The project will allow the company to expand its operations on the East Coast, providing a new supply chain of high-quality avocados to restaurants, food distributors and grocery stores.
A M King plans to convert an existing leased warehouse space into a 25,000-square-foot cold storage distribution center late this month, with an anticipated completion in September. The facility will include a mix of forced air rooms, cooler storage space for produce, loading docks and a mechanical equipment room. LED lighting and variable frequency drives (VFDs) will be installed to reduce energy consumption and increase operating efficiency.
“While it can sometimes be challenging for a client to manage projects located across multiple time zones, our company’s design-build model, in conjunction with advances in construction technology, have helped increase communication and reduce our client’s previously needed resources,” says JD Boone, A M King project manager. “A M King prides itself on delivering complex projects all over the country for our clients.”
