Agroeco-Yug, a Russian-based pig slaughter and processing entity, signed a contract with GEA Group, Germany, for the supply, installation and commissioning of an extensive cooling system. This plant will reside in the Voronezh region, and will be dubbed as one of Russia’s largest businesses for the slaughter and processing of pigs. The slaughter line will process 600 pigs per hour, and the facility is projected to begin operation in 2020.

The seven districts in the region contain 11 modern pig farms, a genetics and selection center and a high-tech feed mixing plant with an elevator.

The GEA cooling system is an energy-efficient and fully-automated exothermal refrigeration unit using NH₃ and CO₂ for compression equipment, evaporative condensers, portioning equipment, air coolers and blast freezers.
