Amazon, Seattle, Wash., opened the doors to Amazon Go, an 1,800-square-foot retail space located in Seattle, what offers the same grocery shopping experience, but with no checkout required.
Customers simply use the Amazon Go app to enter the store, take the products they want and go. No lines, no checkout.
The checkout-free shopping experience is made possible by computer vision, sensor fusion and deep learning. Amazon’s Just Walk Out Technology automatically detects when products are taken from or returned to the shelves and keeps track of them in a virtual cart. Shortly after leaving the store, the app charges consumers’ Amazon account and provides an electronic receipt.
Amazon Go offers a selection of milk, artisan cheese and meal kit solutions, among others.
