Hussmann, St. Louis, Mo., unveiled a new refrigeration system that is charged with environmentally safe propane (R290).

The new line, Hussmann’s MicroDS, is available for low- and medium-temperature merchandisers, and is charged with just 5.7 ounces of propane, which is said to use 90-95% less refrigerant than typically required in other refrigeration systems charged by hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).

Furthermore, MicroDS is a self-contained and hermetically sealed system to lessen propane from leaking into the atmosphere.
