Burgers’ Smokehouse, California, Mo., entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Clifty Farm Country Meats, Paris, Tenn., to created what is said to be the largest producer of country ham in the nation.
“The purchase of Clifty Farm fulfills a key strategic initiative to dramatically reduce risk by providing multiple locations for the production of country cured hams,” says Steven Burger, president of Burgers’ Smokehouse. “Clifty Farm has been a tough competitor over many years, and is a leading country ham brand in the grocery channel. We now look forward to combining the strengths of our organizations to better serve the needs of our customers in all sales channels.”
“We are proud of the business we have developed, and believe that becoming part of the Burgers’ Smokehouse team is the best next step for our company,” says Michael Murphey, president of Clifty Farm Country Meats. “I look forward to continuing with the company when the sale is completed.”
Once finalized, Burgers’ Smokehouse will operate 5 plants across Missouri, Tennessee and Kentucky.
