MorningStar Farms announced a commitment to convert its entire portfolio to be 100% plant-based (vegan) by 2021. This conversion also includes products available to restaurants and eating establishments within K-12 schools, colleges, universities and hospitals.
"This is a very exciting opportunity for us; by making this change, MorningStar Farms favorites can be enjoyed by even more people at home and on-the-go who strive to add plant-based proteins to their plate," says Mel Cash, head of global marketing, plant-based protein at Kellogg Co., the Battle Creek, Mich.-based parent company. "This will also help us further our commitment to a greener world by helping to reduce the water waste, land usage and carbon emissions associated with egg production."
Roughly 50% of the portfolio has already been transitioned, and that should increase to about 65% by the end of 2019.
