Hoffman Controls, Dallas, Texas, released VariFlow, an EC motor speed control for walk-in and reach-in coolers and freezers.

This motor reduces each fan to minimum speed while monitoring the space temperature using four sensors. As the space temperature begins to rise, VariFlow modulates the fans to maintain a consistent temperature. An adaptive algorithm determines the modulation speed based on history from previous cycles. This allows the fans to utilize excess cooling from the energy in the space, therefore extending the compressor off cycle. When the compressor powers on, all fans go to full speed.

Plus, VariFlow constantly monitors each refrigeration cycle and optimizes the fan motor speed.
