WASTEWATER TREATMENT SYSTEM
Baswood developed Baswood BioViper system to conserve and naturally treat wastewater. Using what is said to be up to 60% less energy than other wastewater treatment systems and a 75% smaller physical footprint, the Baswood BioViper system removes 90% or more biochemical oxygen demand (BODs), thus cleaning water before it’s either sent back to the municipality or re-used in a manufacturer’s plant. It features a patented aerobic/anaerobic integrated mediasystem that combines anaerobic and aerobic solutions in one platform. HYDROCARBON WATER ANALYZER
Analytical Systems Keco introduced the Model 204 Hydrocarbon VOC Water Analyzer, delivering an enhanced method of analytically quantifying total hydrocarbons and volatile organic compounds (VOC) in cooling towers, heat exchangers, holding ponds, run-off water and wastewater. Utilizing an exclusive sample transfer stripper and solid-state sensor, this water analyzer measures oil and VOCs directly in the water as well as very low levels (parts per billion) to detect even the smallest of leaks. How it works is, liquid flows into the analyzer and enters a heated sample transfer stripper unit that strips the volatile hydrocarbons from the oil in the water. Then, the carrier air sweeps the hydrocarbons to an advanced solid state sensor for quantitative analysis in ppb or ppm levels. The transmitter electronics quantify and display the values on a back-lit LCD, and provides outputs remote and web-based monitoring and control.

GEA created FoodTray, which combines thermoforming technology, cardboard and film to create a sustainable packaging solution. FoodTray is an ecological carton/film composite that can be separated at the end of the supply chain. Developed in partnership with Roba Group, Schur Flexibles Germany and Van de Velde Packaging, FoodTray combines the criteria of product claim, haptics, safety, sustainability and industrial production processes. FoodTray reduces film content by up to 70%, and replaces fossil-based raw materials with fibers from renewable raw materials, making the content more than 80% recycled. The film is thermoformed and sealed directly to the inside of the cardboard box, and brand information can be printed over the entire surface.

Greiner Packaging teamed up with Offsetdruckerei Schwarzach to develop K3 packaging, a new tear-off system that consists of just two parts—an unprinted, white or transparent plastic cup and a cardboard wrap. The new patent-pending K3 cup boasts a diameter of 95 millimeters and a capacity of 500 milliliters for 17% reduction in CO2 emissions compared with a conventional direct-printed, thermoformed cup of the same size. At the same time, a K3 cup uses up to 33% less plastic compared to a direct-printed, thermoformed cup of the same size. When separated, the individual components of K3 packaging are 100% recyclable.

The P4 Multispectral drone is said to be the world’s first fully integrated multispectral imaging drone built for land management. Videojet debuted the 90° adjustable printhead, specifically for use with the Videojet 1860 continuous inkjet printer. This printer enables users to easily adjust the printhead when a coding configuration changes on their packaging or production line. The 90-degree design reduces the amount of umbilical required to bend, thereby limiting the potential for damage to the wiring. Plus, the printhead offers 350-degree rotational movement of the printhead’s nozzle opening, and the 45-degree slanted design on the face of the printhead delivers more mounting options and closer proximity to product on the line. The nozzle system features a predictive gutter build-up sensor and advanced notice of the most common potential fault conditions.
