Pilot Freight Services (Pilot), a worldwide provider of transportation and logistics services, announces safety protocols to protect their drivers as they continue to move freight and make deliveries during the ongoing pandemic.
Pilot’s drivers will continue to follow best practices, including frequent and thorough hand washing, and consistent sanitization of phones and tablets. Drivers will no longer request physical signatures to prevent the sharing of pens, tablets or phones and are encouraged to seek verbal verification to maximize social distancing. Pilot has also taken extra steps to ensure safety for its drivers and customers by modifying practices including suspension of in-home deliveries or pickups. All deliveries will be made to a secure location outside the home or in the garage. Basic Signature Release service has been implemented, whereby goods are pre-approved to be left without a signature eliminating direct contact between driver and consumer.
Hospital delivery is also now limited to receiving the dock or lobby. All unpacking will occur in the delivery location. Drivers will not deliver to room of choice within these facilities and any driver fulfilling deliveries to medical facilities will be temperature tested.
“It is of utmost importance to prioritize the health and safety of our drivers as they perform essential deliveries,” said John Hill, president, and chief commercial officer of Pilot Freight Services. “We have enacted and are actively enforcing all protocols to ensure the safety of our employees while also getting the important packages, like critical medical supplies, to the facilities where they are needed.”
