Across the United States, 85% of diners decide what to eat for dinner the same day the meal occurs, so it may not come as a surprise that compared to 2015, convenient meal solutions grew across almost every category and generation, according to research released by Acosta, Jacksonville, Fla., and Technomic, Chicago.

Generations view protein differently, with older generations more concerned about the health benefits of protein and younger generations caring about exercise recovery and feeling full, according to research conducted by Acosta, Jacksonville, Fla.

Research released in the 14th edition of The Why? Behind The Buy from Acosta, Jacksonville, Fla., provides insight into how each generation is changing the grocery landscape and how brands and retailers should adapt.

The study, "Trip Drivers: Top Influencers Driving Shopper Traffic," shows that 76% of weekly shoppers visit more than one retailer each week for groceries, and 67% of those shoppers visit approximately 2-3 retailers a week.

From frozen desserts to appetizers and meals, the frozen section in U.S. grocery stores has the ability to be a one-stop shop for on-the-go consumers.
