The Innovation Fund, a program of The Kroger Co. Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation, Cincinnati, named its inaugural cohort of innovators, selected from nearly 400 applicants.
Kroger's food waste generated by retail stores decreased 9%, reducing both food waste and the greenhouse gases resulting from it.

The Kroger Co., Cincinnati, announced the company's Zero Hunger | Zero Waste efforts reduced its supermarket food waste footprint (the overall food waste it produced) by 9% in 2018, as outlined in its 2019 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report.
The current plans for the 389,000-square-foot environmentally efficient facility will ultimately be LEED certified, zero waste to landfill and run with renewable energy.
