Turkey processor Butterball, LLC, Garner, N.C., said it will close its Longmont, Colo. facility, effective December 31, 2011.

The nation's largest turkey processor, Butterball LLC, said it appointed Rod Brenneman as the company’s new chief executive officer.

Turkey processing giant Butterball, LLC, Garner, N.C., said Keith Shoemaker resigned as president and CEO, effective April 25, 2011.

Maxwell Farms, LLC, Goldsboro, N.C., and Seaboard Corporation,  Merriam, Kan., said they finalized a nine-month purchase of turkey processor Butterball, LLC from Murphy-Brown, LLC.

Pork processing giant Seaboard Foods, Shawnee Mission, Kan., agreed last Friday to become a joint partner in turkey processor Butterball LLC.

Following an early morning announcement that minority joint venture partner Smithfield Foods Inc. would like to purchase Butterball LLC, the turkey company's majority owner, Maxwell Farms, LLC, issued its own statement.

In conjunction with its fourth quarter and full-year financial earnings release, meat giant Smithfield Foods Inc., Smithfield, Va., said it offered to purchase its joint venture partner's 51 percent ownership interest in Butterball, LLC.

Clearwater Seafoods L.P., Halifax, N.S., said it hired consumer packaged goods veteran Ian Smith as chief executive officer effective May 17, 2010.
