Plant-based, fungi-focused protein manufacturer Meati Foods is leasing 76,463 square feet of Class A industrial space at 25 North in Thornton, Colorado. Meati will occupy two-thirds of a brand new 114,700-square-foot building that was constructed in 2020.
RLS Logistics is building an 83,000-square-foot cold storage facility in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, set to open Q1 of 2022. The facility will provide frozen and refrigerated food manufacturers, distributors, processors, and importers in the Springfield and Boston region with public cold storage warehouse capacity relief and access to RLS' temperature controlled less than truckload shipping programs.

Honor Foods, a Burris Logistics company, is in the final stage of moving its current Philadelphia operation from its North 5th Street location to a new warehouse at 5505 Tacony Street. The final day of business in its current location will be Thursday, January 7, preparing for a Monday, January 11 opening of the new warehouse. Honor Foods worked closely with the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation to identify a suitable site within the city, eventually choosing a 20-acre parcel sitting within the former Frankford Military Arsenal site that closed in 1977.
With the final FSMA IA rule in effect for small businesses since July and large businesses a year before that, coupled with changes to the food supply chain in response to the pandemic, risk assessment and mitigation should be a priority now more than ever. For the refrigeration and frozen food industry specifically, changes have also evolved with the implementation of the Sanitary Transportation rule.
Cold Summit Development has launched its first project in Dallas, a 343,000-square-foot multi-tenant cold storage facility (“Cold Summit Dallas”). The $60 million project is located at 2800 Cedardale Road on a 29-acre site within the South Dallas industrial submarket.
Nature Fresh Farms has expanded operations with a new Distribution Center in Laredo, Texas, with future developments planned for next year. The new 61,000 square foot Distribution Center in Laredo, Texas, provides a new major hub of fresh produce. Since the opening of the facility, they have employed over 30 team members with more positions available for hire.
The transaction marks Lineage’s entrance into the Canadian cold storage market.

Lineage Logistics, (“Lineage” or the “Company”), has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Ontario Refrigerated Services, Inc. (“ORS”), a leading family-operated cold storage company offering temperature-controlled space in the Greater Toronto market, marking Lineage’s entrance into the Canadian market. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Construction of a new north Houston freezer storage facility, Texas Frio Cold Storage, is underway. Designed and built by Houston-based KDW, the new facility will provide 43,742 square feet of cold storage space for whole and packaged beef, pork and poultry products and 19,086 square feet of office space. The project has been master planned to double the facility’s cold storage space for future needs.
